URBANA is an event that's held within the Power & Light District, the first Wednesday of every month ( spanning from May - October). Combining the aesthetics of a cool urban hangout with a warming sense of nirvana, I was asked to introduce an art activity into the event.
Everyone that showed up was given a quick tutorial based on how to use pre-cut stencils and spray paint to create their own abstract piece of art that represents the theme of URBANA (through using colors associated with their logo) and that also embodies the feel of living in KC.
The best part of the evening was meeting the little girl (pictured above) who kept returning to my booth in order to make paintings for her younger siblings and friends at school. She showed up for her second round of paintings during my lunch break and stood next to the table and watched me eat, intent on being first in line!
