This painting was designed after a student I mentored after school when I first began working with youth through Mattie Rhodes Center in 2013. At the time, I had just begun to experiment with creating designs based on hair styles. During a conversation, Gallo (person depicted) was talking about all the different colors he thought about dying his hair so that he could possibly stand out to a girl he had a crush on who was, at least he thought, into guys who had their own unique style. This painting was created after that conversation, where the word "Mio" is expressed with an emphasis on the "OH!" factor of choosing such a bold choice in color.
